By Professor Dr. Hjh. Yusliza Mohd Yusoff. Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Development, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia

Abstract

As artificial intelligence reshapes the global workforce, the role of Human Resource Management (HRM) is undergoing a profound transformation. In this keynote, we explore how sustainable HRM can serve as a strategic compass in navigating the ethical, social, and organizational challenges posed by AI integration. Sustainable HRM goes beyond efficiency and productivity—it emphasizes long-term value creation, employee well-being, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.

This address will examine the intersection of AI and sustainable HRM through three lenses:
1. Ethical AI Deployment – ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in algorithmic decision-making.
2. Human-Centric Work Design – preserving dignity, autonomy, and meaningful work in increasingly automated environments.
3. Strategic Workforce Sustainability – fostering continuous learning, diversity, and resilience in talent ecosystems.

Drawing on global case studies and emerging research, this keynote will offer actionable insights for HR leaders, policymakers, and technologists to co-create a future of work that is not only intelligent but also just and humane. The goal is to inspire a paradigm shift—from managing people as resources to empowering them as stewards of sustainable innovation.
